Please take precautions and prepare for unsafe steps, sidewalks and roads.

Folks that have lived for many years at Ridgeview are aware that when storms bring sleet and ice, stepping outside your home can be treacherous.

The City of Concord does not pre-treat roads in our area nor do they plow the roads – their position is that except for major arteries, the City relies on Mother Nature to eliminate ice and snow.  Likewise, Ridgeview owners have declined proposals to cover the cost of treatment of outdoor stairs and sidewalks instead preferring to either stay inside until Mother Nature return stairs and sidewalks to safe conditions.  Adventurous owners that wish to head outside must provide the necessary ice melt to create a safe path from their front door to their car.  If you choose the latter, do so with extreme caution, taking every possible precaution and at your own risk.

Even owners that manage to get safely from their front door to their car should not rely on being able to safely maneuver some of Ridgeview’s steeper roads – especially Hanford, upper Carlyle and even Wexford.  Even after the sun has made significant progress clearing some areas, precautions must continue to be taken in shadier areas.
If you are an essential worker in law enforcement, emergency response or provide necessary medical services, then you should carefully consider whether alternative options are appropriate to stay at or near your place of employment to assure that you will be able to serve the community if you have committed to do so.
It is our hope that this storm will be less severe than reports suggest it might be.  That said, it’s better to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
We urge everyone to make safe choices to avoid potentially serious injuries from maneuvering slick surfaces.
